The Department of Communities is leading the development of a new WA Housing Strategy 2020-2030. The strategy will set the direction for the next 10 years, creating a more sustainable and responsive housing system for WA.

The strategy is a call to action for all sectors to work together to improve housing choices and pathways. It will consider how to improve access to suitable and affordable homes and respond to current and future need.

Housing is a key driver of social and economic well-being for households, communities and our State. The strategy will build on the foundations of the Affordable Housing Strategy 2010-20: Opening Doors to Affordable Housing and the 2017 Action Plan, and evolve our approach to housing and service delivery.

Where we are at – our journey

The Department, with the support of Shelter WA, are currently holding conversation workshops with our key stakeholders. These conversations will inform the strategy and provide us with a clear direction.

As each workshop is held, you will be able to view the conversation summaries below.

The strategy will be delivered in the first half of 2020.
