The Department of Communities developed WA Foster Carers Week in 2017, with the delivery of the inaugural event supported by the Foster Care Association of WA and other non-government agencies.
The Week was created to recognise and celebrate the efforts of our dedicated and hardworking general and family carers and takes place from 12–18 March each year.
Foster caring is one of the most challenging roles that anyone can take on and relies on people with big hearts.
Our celebrations during WA Foster Carers Week are just one way that we can say thank you to these inspiring individuals who open their lives to some of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people.
An ‘invitation only’ Celebration Brunch event for metropolitan foster carers will take place in Perth, while regional carers will be honoured at localised events.
To find out more, please contact your local District Office.
All events and activities hosted across the State will assist in raising awareness of the need for more foster carers in Western Australia.
