New Aboriginal Advisory Panel underway

Expressions of interest are now open to join a new Aboriginal Advisory Panel which will provide cultural and expert advice to the State Government.

The Department of Communities (Communities) is seeking nominations for the panel from respected and knowledgeable Aboriginal people from across Western Australia.

The panel has been established by Minister for Child Protection; Women’s Interests; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Community Services Simone McGurk.

Applicants must have experience in one or more areas relevant to Minister McGurk’s portfolios.

Up to 20 people will be appointed to the Panel with a membership term of up to two years.

Nominations from Aboriginal men and women, Elders and young people are being encouraged, so that the panel reflects the diversity of WA’s Aboriginal communities.

Consideration will be given to the cultural and geographical diversity of members, as well as gender and generational perspectives.
