The Department of Communities is seeking your input into the State Disability Plan. The 10-year plan, which was announced on 14 November 2018, aims to support and empower people with disability. The 10-year plan will enable more inclusive communities and help to improve the accessibility of State Government services, systems and infrastructure for all Western Australians.
The Plan aims to be community-driven and reflect the needs and aspirations of people throughout the State. Wide community engagement and consultation will include people with disability, their families and carers, support networks, service providers, State and local governments and advocacy groups.
We are calling upon everyone in the State to get involved, so register your interest by visiting www.communities.wa.gov.au/state-disability-plan. Your first call of action is to help us establish a shared vision for the Plan through an online survey, open until 12 February 2019.
How else can you engage?
- Share this information through your relevant networks, and encourage as many people as possible to register and provide input
- Let us know about any network or sector newsletters/correspondence where it might be a good opportunity to have the State Disability Plan promoted. We can then provide appropriate content and material.
