Eighty six organisations across the State will celebrate Seniors Week 2017 in style thanks to funding from the State Government.

More than $79,000 has been provided to organisations through the Seniors Week Community Grants Program.

Among the events are two free movie screenings hosted by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River featuring films from the recent Life in Pictures short film competition. The competition was a creative collaboration between the Department of Communities, Revelation Perth International Film Festival and Screenwest to challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes about ageing.

In Yokine, JewishCare WA is hosting a music concert for local seniors and in Pinjarra, the Shire of Murray is hosting a country and western themed evening for seniors.

The Seniors Week Community Grants Program is administered by the Council on the Ageing WA with support from the State Government and Lotterywest. Organisations could apply for funding of up to $3,000 for events and activities taking place during Seniors Week.
