The shining stars of the community services sector are being sought for recognition through the biennial Community Services Excellence Awards.

Nominations are now open for the awards which are presented by the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) in partnership with the Department of Communities, and supported by Lotterywest.

They recognise the important role the community sector and individuals play in making a positive difference to people, families, and communities through their innovative and creative services.

Two new individual categories have been introduced to the 2018 awards program. ‘Above and Beyond’ recognises an individual surpassing expectations through their work in the community services sector, while ‘Excellence in Leadership’ acknowledges an innovative leader.

Other categories acknowledge outstanding small, medium, large, regional and Aboriginal organisations. An organisation providing outstanding collaborative, place-based services or solutions will also receive an award.

Nominations close on 26 February. The awards take place on 2 May, during the WACOSS conference, which this year will be held from 2 to 3 May 2018.
