National Carers Week 2020 runs from 11-17 October and acknowledges the important work that unpaid carers do to support family members or friends.

In Western Australia, there are approximately 320,000 people that fulfil this important role.

To highlight the role of carers in Western Australia, a series of short videos illustrating the stories of unpaid carers will be screened on the Yagan Square Digital Tower every day during National Carers Week 2020.

The screenings were coordinated by Communities and the Carers Advisory Council with footage provided by Carers Australia, Carers WA, Alzheimer’s WA and Helping Minds.

The videos illustrate the positive and significant difference carers make to the lives of families, friends and the people they care for. They also outline the challenges placed on people undertaking these roles.

A video message from Minister for Community Services Simone McGurk thanking carers for the work that they do was also included in the screenings.

The Yagan Square Digital Tower is a unique circular screen, at the heart of Yagan Square in the Perth CBD, receiving more than 42,000 views a day. The tower is owned by Development WA with the content managed by Screenwest.
