The Department of Communities is proud to support the 2018 Grace Vaughan Memorial Lecture together with the Australian Association of Social Workers and the Institute of Advanced Studies at The University of Western Australia.

This year, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar AO will speak on the collective power and potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls – recognising their human rights in achieving gender equity.

Commissioner Oscar’s talk will highlight the lived reality of women and girls across Australia. She will consider how gender equity will only be achieved when Australia delivers justice to First Nation women and girls, and how through raising the collective voices of women and girls, a more just, dynamic and equitable nation can be achieved.

The Grace Vaughan Memorial Lecture is free for the public and will be held at 6:00pm on 1 May 2018 at the Theatre Auditorium at The University Club of Western Australia.
