Paying for hotel quarantine in WA

The WA Government announced on 10 July 2020 that anyone arriving into WA and directed to enter a State Quarantine Facility (hotel quarantine) on or after 17 July 2020 would be required to pay for their quarantine period.

Those entering a State Quarantine Facility (hotel quarantine) include:

  • all international arrivals
  • interstate arrivals without a suitable premise to self-quarantine
  • interstate arrivals who are declined entry to the State and WA Police consider a risk to remain quarantined until they leave the state.

Applying for a reduction or exemption of your quarantine hotel fee

Individuals experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for a partial or full exemption of the hotel quarantine fee. You must be an Australian citizen or a Permanent resident to apply.

You will be expected to provide evidence to support your application. In order to demonstrate financial hardship – applicants must provide evidence in relation to their current financial circumstance, including but not limited to:

  • income statements
  • bank balances and transaction history
  • current debts
  • share investments and dividends
  • other relevant documentation.

Your application will be assessed against criteria to ensure there is genuine hardship.
