New Aboriginal Advisory Panel underway

Expressions of interest are now open to join a new Aboriginal Advisory Panel which will provide cultural and expert advice to the State Government.

The Department of Communities (Communities) is seeking nominations for the panel from respected and knowledgeable Aboriginal people from across Western Australia.

The Panel has been established by the Hon. Simone McGurk, Minister for Child Protection; Women’s Interests; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence and Community Services.

Applicants will have to have experience in one or more key areas relevant to the Minister’s portfolios.

Up to 20 people will be appointed to the Panel with a membership term of up to two years.

The aim is to ensure that the Panel reflects the diversity of WA’s Aboriginal communities so nominations from Aboriginal men and women, Elders and young people are being encouraged.

Consideration will be given to the cultural and geographical diversity of members as well as gender and generational perspectives.
