The Western Australian Disability Services Commission sits within the Department of Communities (Communities). Networks and support at Communities

At Communities, we have a team of Human Resources (HR) staff who can provide information and advice to job applicants and staff with disability, and their managers – for example, advice on setting up supports for job interviews to ensure there are no unnecessary barriers in the recruitment process.    

Our HR team is also working towards creating a network for staff with disability to act as a reference group, to advise the agency and make positive changes for other staff and the people we serve. Some of the objectives of the network may include:

  • promote an understanding and awareness of issues for people with disability
  • create and maintain a network of support across Communities for people with disability to enhance a culture of inclusion
  • provide input on policy matters in respect of staff with disability
  • provide feedback about the quality of the experiences of people with disability accessing and participating in all aspects of working at Communities.
