Government concessions and rebates - WA Seniors Card

The state government offers WA Seniors Card holders a wide range of concessions on a variety of state government services.   

Rebates administered by Department of Local Government and Communities

Cost of Living Rebate

WA Seniors Card holders are eligible to apply for an annual payment every year to assist with rising living expenses.

Safety and Security Rebate Scheme

From 1 January 2014, WA Seniors Card holders can apply for a new rebate to improve their safety and security. This includes:

  • Up to $200 for a personal safety device.
  • Up to $200 to upgrade or replace security if you have received the previous security rebate and then experienced a break-in from 1 January 2014.


Concessions and rebates from other government departments and agencies

Energy Rebates

The state government provides an energy subsidy payment, referred to as a Cost of Living Assistance payment.

Health Concessions

The Department of Health offers a subsidy for the purchase of spectacles.

Hardship Utility Grant Scheme (HUGS)

A state government scheme that provides financial assistance to people experiencing financial hardship to maintain connection to their electricity, gas or water supply.

Licence Fees

Discounts are available for fishing, drivers' and vehicle licence fees.

Local Government Rates

Eligible WA Seniors Card holders can claim rebates or deferment on their annual property rates.

Public Transport

WA Seniors Card holders get free and discounted fares for Transperth metropolitan bus, train and ferry services and TransWA regional bus services.

WA Tourist Attractions

Get discounts on admission fees for State tourist attractions including The Art Gallery of WA, Western Australian Museum & Maritime Museum, Perth Zoo, Rottnest Island and National Parks.


WA Seniors Card holders are entitled to a discount of up to 25% on Water Corporation Bills.
