Western Australian parents are being invited to trial a new online parenting program. The program has been developed in partnership by the Department for Communities’ Parenting WA and the international TripleP program based at the University of Queensland.
The online TripleP parenting program is designed for parents who might not be able to attend parenting programs due to time, distance or cost. The program is targeted at parents of children aged 2-9 years and offers ideas on how to build relationships with children and manage misbehaviour.
The online TripleP Positive Parenting Program trial will involve 100 participants from WA and Queensland and participants will be divided into three randomised groups. One group of participants will take part in the program online without any other support, another group will participate online with weekly phone support and a third group of parents will participate online with phone support and home visits. Participants will complete eight modules over eight weeks.
If the trial is successful, the program may then be offered to WA parents.
