We have responsibility for regulating education and care services, as well as providing information and support to assist parents choose a child care option and make informed decisions about the quality of education and care offered to their child.

Education and Care Regulatory Unit

The Regulatory Unit:

  • assesses applications for Provider Approvals, Service Approvals and approvals for Certified Supervisors
  • assesses education and care services against the National Quality Standard
  • supports and promotes continuous quality improvements in education and care services
  • investigates incidents and complaints
  • monitors and enforces compliance.

National Quality Framework

The National Quality Framework is now in place for children’s education and care services across Australia.

The National Quality Framework in WA is comprised of the:

  • Education and Care Services National Law (WA) Act 2012
  • Education and Care Services National Regulations 2012
  • National Quality Standard
  • Rating and Assessment process.

NQF Guides Browser

There are six core documents relating to the National Quality Framework.
These are the National Law, National Regulations (WA) and the four Guides that support the legislation.
