Criminal record checks
Applications for criminal record checks / National Police Certificates can only be made at Australia Post outlets. Applicants must apply in person, with suitable identification documents, at Australia Post. WA Police will then post National Police Certificates directly to applicants. See the WA Police website for further information.
Child Care Licence applications must be accompanied by a criminal record check issued not more than 6 months before the date of the application. A receipt from the WA Police as proof that you have submitted an application for a criminal record check does not meet the requirements of the legislation, and will result in the application being returned to the applicant.
Self Assessment Checklists
In readiness for a licensing visit, licence applicants are encouraged to complete a self-assessment checklist (see Resources).
Answering ‘Yes’ to the checklist questions does not guarantee that a licence applicant will satisfy all the requirements of the licensing visit, but are more likely to do so. If you identify any areas that you need some advice or assistance with, please contact your local Children’s Services Officer.
Current licence holders are also encouraged to use a self assessment checklist to check compliance with the relevant Regulations.
Please note, the checklist are not legal advice. It is strongly recommended that a licensee always refer to the complete version of the Child Care Services (Child Care) Regulations 2006 for more information.
PLEASE NOTE: This site is regularly updated to meet the new requirements associated with the Child Care Services Act 2007 and regulations for child care.
