Calling all young people! National Youth Week kicks off on Friday, 13 April with hundreds of events and activities throughout Western Australia with the theme ‘Imagine. Create. Inspire’.
National Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people on the Australian youth calendar, and is your opportunity to express your ideas, showcase your talents and have your voices heard. Best of all, you get to have fun!
The week gets underway with the launch of the KickstART Youth Hub on Friday, 13 April, and the official launch in Bunbury on Saturday, 14 April with the Grass Roots Festival.

National Youth Week is presented by the Department for Communities and sponsored by the City of Bunbury, Shire of Dardanup, Investing in Our Youth Inc. Youthbeyondblue, the WA Mental Health Commission, BHP and the South West Development Commission.
South West Grass Roots Festival– Saturday, 14 April, Bunbury
Western Australia’s National Youth Week launch event is in Bunbury on Saturday, 14 April. The Grass Roots Festival will see bands, including indie rockers The Novocaines, hit the stage in Bicentennial Square. There’ll also be skate, scooter and BMX action from Freestyle Now and GMTA at Bunbury Skate Park, a speedway car display from Krikke Boys, rides and stalls, a wellbeing and education sideshow alley, and an urban art project.
The action starts at 4pm and is totally free. The Grass Roots Festival is a smoke, drug and alcohol free event.

KickstART Youth Hub – from Friday, 13 April, 200-206 William Street, Northbridge, Perth
The KickstART Youth Hub is the Perth metro region’s biggest National Youth Week event. One of the highlights will be live music from the winners of the Xpress Music Feedback concert along with a host of other musicians, art exhibitions and market stalls. There will also be workshops – register here – and KickstART Youth Forums, with the themes ‘education’, ‘urban development’ and ‘mental health’. The forum series will take place on Monday 16th, Wednesday 18th and Friday 20th April at the KickstART Youth Hub, 200-206 William Street Northbridge from 6pm-8pm. KickstART Youth Festival – Saturday, 21 April, 11am to 5pm, Perth Cultural Centre
The perfect end to National Youth Week festivities in Western Australia, the KickstART Youth Festival features live music and performances, dance workshops, interactive workshops, markets with original and vintage items on offer and more!
WA Youth Awards 2012
The WA Youth Awards recognise outstanding young Western Australians aged 12 to 25 years. They honour the hard work and dedication of young people, youth workers and youth-led groups throughout WA. The eight award categories cover a range of fields, including the arts, education, the environment, community service and sport and recreation. Winners will be announced at the WA Youth Awards gala ceremony during National Youth Week.
