Community Services Excellence Awards finalists announced

The 2014 Community Services Excellence Awards finalists have been named by the Hon Tony Simpson MLA, Minister for Community Services today. Finalists in the 2014 Community Service Excellence Awards include vegetable gardens and hip hop dance classes for at-risk youth, a project to recycle unwanted sports equipment, and free tutoring for rural students. more

Parenting service tender announced for the Goldfields

The Department of Local Government and Communities will be seeking applications from organisations to provide a parenting service in the Goldfields. Funding for the new parenting service was announced recently in Kalgoorlie-Boulder by Community Service Minister Tony Simpson who was in the city to launch WA’s National Youth Week. more

New cat ‘condos’ will help rehome and reunite pets

State Government funding administered by the Department of Local Government and Communities (DLGC) has enabled the building of new facilities for housing stray and lost cats. Grants were awarded to many organisations and local governments, including the Shenton Park Cat Haven which received $420,000 to build 115 new cat pens. more
