Communities are about the people who make them. Whether young or old, male or female, a parent or carer, a group of volunteers or a community organisation, all Western Australians should enjoy a sense of belonging to their community, to know they matter, and have the opportunity to contribute.
The Department for Communities is about supporting all Western Australians in meeting these needs, in enabling them to reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives. We do this by providing a wide range of programs and services throughout the state, both directly and indirectly, in partnership with some 150 community organisations and other government agencies.
At the same time, we promote the interests of Western Australian children, parents, families, young people, seniors, women, carers, volunteers and community organisations in the development of policy and programs across government.
Most, if not all, Western Australians will benefit, at some stage during their lives, from the work we do to build strong, vibrant communities. Click hereĀ for the Who we are, what we do document.
